Spring Training 2026

AFT-Oregon Spring Training. Train together, win together.

We are thrilled to announce our upcoming Annual Spring Training, which will be held Saturday, April 25 from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm at the Portland Community College Sylvania campus.

Each year, AFT-Oregon offers its members a full day of classes on building leadership skills and union power. This year, we are revamping our schedule to provide a more structured, deep-dive learning experience that builds our collective power and expertise across the state.

What’s New This Year? Introducing Certificate Tracks

In the past, attendees chose from a number of different classes upon arrival. Based on your feedback, we are shifting to a more focused Certificate Track model.

Instead of jumping between unrelated topics, you will now select one specialized track to focus on for the first two blocks of the day. Completing both sequenced classes in your chosen track will earn you an AFT-Oregon Training Certificate!

You can choose one of the following four tracks:

  • Track 1: Bargaining
  • Track 2: Organizing
  • Track 3: Grievances
  • Track 4: Political Engagement

Please see our Course Descriptions to help you decide which track to choose. The RSVP form will ask you for a second choice in case the first track is full. Register early to increase your chances of getting your preferred track.

After completing your two-part Certificate Track and joining us for our General Strike Readiness session and lunch, the final block of the day (Block 3) will remain a Choice Class, allowing you to explore topics like Union History, Leadership Development, Conflict Resolution, or Safety.

Why We Need Your RSVP Now

The cost is only $40 per attendee and includes lunch. Locals will be billed for their attendees after the event, so please confirm with your local that you have permission to register.

This new model requires sequenced learning, so we are moving to an advanced RSVP system. Please select your Certificate Track and RSVP as soon as possible. Registering early allows us to:

  1. Guarantee Your Spot: Classes will have capacity limits, so early registration ensures you get into your preferred track.
  2. Assign Rooms Effectively: Knowing our numbers in advance helps us allocate appropriately sized spaces for each group.
  3. Build a Roster of Member Experts: By tracking which members complete specific certificate tracks, AFT-Oregon can build a powerful database of local expertise. In the future, we hope to draw upon your specialized knowledge to mentor others, lead future campaigns, or even co-facilitate future trainings!

Please RSVP by filling out the registration form. Please register by April 15 so we can finalize our class rosters.

We are incredibly excited about this new format and the opportunity to help our members develop specialized, actionable skills. If you have any questions about the new schedule or the certificate tracks, please don't hesitate to reach out.
